Webinar: Materials, Methods & Mandates – Done!

Decorative

Yesterday, 19th November, we had the pleasure of sharing valuable insights during our webinar on the topic: “Landscape of Waste Shipment Legislation in Finland, Sweden, and Norway.” The discussion was based on our latest report, which sheds light on the current state of cross-border waste management and highlights several pressing challenges that affect the functioning of the joint waste market in the Nordic region.

One of the most widely recognized challenges? The differences in policies and regulatory frameworks between exporting and importing countries. This issue was consistently raised by all stakeholder groups we interviewed—authorities, municipalities, and waste management companies—underscoring its significance across the sector.

While addressing this concern will ultimately require legislative changes at a higher level, the report also emphasizes that many other obstacles can be tackled through practical measures such as enhanced training, stronger cooperation, and the development of commonly agreed practices among all parties involved.

The second presentation of the day came from Kiertokaari Ltd, a waste management and circular economy company from Oulu, Finland. Kiertokaari’s presentation was a look-see into their municipal waste management, pilots and projects surrounding the subject. The company is very interested in future piloting and opportunities with co-other actors! Check out the presentation below.

The third presentation was brought to us by Macon Ltd, also one of our project partners. Macon Ltd’s presentation concentrated on the challenges and solutions for ashes and food waste, which for sure is a trending and important topic these days. Macon is also actively searching for opportunities for food and ash waste piloting using the technologies mentioned in their presentation below!

📅 Don’t miss out! Join us on Wednesday the NOV 26th for the next and the final webinar in this series, where we’ll continue exploring solutions and best practices for a more efficient and sustainable waste market.
