The Ethos and the Environment
Regional cooperation in waste management is required to secure the supply of raw materials, i.e. waste feedstock as well as tackle common territorial challenges. The NOWA activities are focusing on building institutional collaboration and synergy solutions in the waste management. More East-West cooperation in the North Calotte region (northern areas of Finland, Sweden, Norway) might lead to more synergies and reduction of negative environmental effects.
More exchange between waste management stakeholders in the target region will mitigate the risks of unexpected market changes, contribute to the shift from competition to sharing the challenges and value co-creation in the operational processes.
Goals
Facilitate responsible and sustainable waste management development through the Northern parts of Finland, Sweden and Norway
Promote and facilitate knowledge and practices exchange among waste management stakeholders

Optimize the waste management system in the target area as a whole in economic and environmental terms
Share and advocate for best practices, technological solutions, and standards
Support waste market accessibility
